Frequently asked questions
How much does a nanny placement cost?
Our placement process includes a $300 search fee to begin a tailored candidate search, then a placement fee of $2,500 for full-time placements or $1,500 for part-time placements once you hire. Babysitting and mother's helper arrangements are quoted based on your needs.
How are your nannies screened?
Every candidate goes through three layers of screening before you meet them. Background checks include an SSN trace, a 7-year county criminal search, a multi-state criminal search, and a sex offender registry check — turnaround is typically 2–7 business days. We verify at least two phone-reachable references, asking about their overall experience, any issues, the positives, and anything another family would want to know. We also confirm CPR and first aid certifications, NCS credentials, and any required vaccinations; parents can request copies. We only present nannies we'd trust with our own families.
What is the 90-day replacement guarantee?
If a placement isn't the right fit within the first 90 days, we'll find a replacement at no additional placement fee. Our goal is a lasting match, and we stay involved with ongoing support after placement.
What's the difference between full-time and part-time placement?
Full-time placements cover consistent weekday care (typically 30+ hours a week) and carry a $2,500 placement fee. Part-time placements cover lighter or partial-week schedules and carry a $1,500 placement fee. We'll help you decide which fits during your consultation call.
How much does a nanny make in Houston, Texas?
Most Houston nannies earn between $20 and $30 per hour, with the average posted rate around $25 per hour as of 2026. Where a nanny lands in that range depends on experience, certifications like CPR and First Aid, the number of children, and the duties involved. Specialized care such as newborn and night nanny work typically commands $30 to $45 per hour. We help families set a fair, competitive rate during the consultation call.
Which areas around Houston do you serve?
Houston Nannies places nannies across the Greater Houston metro, including Houston and the Inner Loop, The Woodlands, Sugar Land, Katy, Pearland, and Cypress. We work with families throughout the surrounding communities too — if you're nearby and not sure whether you're in range, reach out and we'll let you know on the consultation call. You can see details for each area on our service areas page.
What nanny agency do celebrities use?
Celebrities almost never hire from online marketplaces. They use boutique placement agencies known for rigorous vetting, discretion, and personal matching — the most famous example being the UK's Norland nannies. Houston Nannies founder Macy Zidek learned this work directly from her mentor, Nicole, at Sunhouse Babysitting — a boutique agency trusted by actors, athletes, and high-net-worth families — and brings that same playbook to Houston. We support nondisclosure agreements to protect your family's privacy, and our nannies sign them whenever a placement calls for that level of discretion. We already serve some very high net worth households whose names we keep private, and we bring those same capabilities to any family that needs them.
